AAA Offers 5 Percent Gas Rebate

Orlando, Fla. - 3/19/2003

AAA is working to help families counteract the effects of record high gas prices on their family budgets by offering a 5 percent rebate on gasoline and diesel purchases made at the pump with the AAA VisaŽ credit card.

"With the present uncertainty about the future of gas prices, especially in the event of war, we feel this is a valuable way to help families save on this necessary expense," said Scott Denman, managing director, AAA Financial Services.

Beginning immediately, all AAA credit card holders will receive a 5 percent rebate when they use their AAA credit card issued by MBNA America Bank to purchase fuel at any automated fuel pump worldwide. Rebates will appear as a credit on the card holder's monthly statement. Users must purchase the gas or diesel by swiping the AAA credit card at the pump.

Nationwide, gas prices are averaging $1.72 per gallon for regular unleaded, up 6 cents from last month. At that price the 5 percent rebate would save members 8.6 cents on every gallon of gasoline purchased.

"If we can do something to help our members keep a little more money in their pockets, you can be sure we will," said Denman. "And this gas rebate program does just that."

As North America's largest motoring and leisure travel organization, AAA provides nearly 46 million members with travel, insurance, financial and automotive-related services. Since its founding in 1902, the not-for-profit, fully tax-paying AAA has been a leader and advocate for the safety and security of all travelers.
